What is PIP/DLA?
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a non-means tested benefit granted to those living with a long-term health condition or disability, aged 16 to 64. It is not affected by current income, earnings or savings. PIP began replacing DLA in 2013 (2016 in Northern Ireland).
PIP is made up of two components: daily living and mobility. This is paid at a standard or enhanced rate. The rates and length of benefit are decided by the DWP.
Am I eligible for the Motability Scheme?
If you are a recipient of the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of PIP at £61.20 a week, and have at least 12 months remaining on your award, then you will be eligible to lease a vehicle through the Motability Scheme.
What is the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)?
The War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement is awarded by Veterans UK to those injured in service to cover extra costs endured due to their injury.
The allowance is currently at £66.75 per week and can be used to lease a vehicle on the Motability Scheme.
