Position: Service Technician

Location: Wilmslow

Full Time , Permanent

Here at Halliwell Jones (Wilmslow) Ltd we have an exciting opportunity for a Service Technician. The position is located at our Wilmslow Centre consisting of Aftersales, Bodyshop and BMW and MINI Sales.   • To carry out service, diagnostic and repair work efficiently and competently. Experience of using the latest BMW diagnostic tools and equipment. Knowledge of BMW technical reporting TSARA, ISTA/D, ISTA/P and AIR. BMW/ IMI Hybrid qualification level 2 preferred
  • To carry out work provided competently and within the times laid down by the Flat Rate Manual, or to time acceptable by Service Manager.
    To ensure that times and information are recorded as requested by management on both job card and computerised time system, which in all cases must be identical. Any hand-written entries must be countersigned by management.
    To attend internal and external training courses, as directed by the management.
    To keep their place of work in a tidy and clean condition, with particular attention to cleanliness at the end of each working day.
    To advise the Workshop Controller or Service Adviser of any additional work necessary on a car during service.
    To ensure parts of Warranty Claims are retained and drained of oil, where necessary.
    To ensure exchange and warranty parts are returned to Parts Department when required, obtaining signature from Parts Advisor.
    To be prepared to work overtime, with reasonable notice, if requested by the management.
    To ensure that the vehicles worked on are carefully handled and that all reasonable care is taken of that vehicle on the premises for repair or service.
    To maintain and develop skill levels in all aspects of repair, service and maintenance of
    BMW vehicles.
    To make full use of BMW Special Tools, Service Tester, Service Equipment and training as provided to improve customer service levels and workshop efficiency.
    To ensure that special tools are always returned to their correct location within the workshop.
    To maintain thorough and current Product Knowledge and read all Service Information
    and Service News bulletins as supplied by Service Management. This also includes the complete understanding of the BMW Intranet system.

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent City and Guilds or BTEC accreditation) qualified with extensive experience working in a Franchised Centre (ideally in a BMW / Prestige centre) and be highly skilled at fault diagnosis.

Technical knowledge and passion for BMW products and technology.

Highly skilled at fault diagnosis.

Deliver first time fix to meeting customer satisfaction.

Ability to work autonomously.

Ability to work within given timescales and complete a wide range of tasks.

Ability to comply with warranty write ups.

To ensure all chargeable labour and workshop consumables are recorded on the job card.

Highly motivated, team player that offers help and support to other, attention to detail.

Willingness to learn and develop personal knowledge, and keep up-to-date with complex/ technical/product information, in order to improve profitability.

An outstanding attitude and passion for customer service.

An enthusiastic, dynamic and team orientated personality.

Ability to deal with customers when necessary.

Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.

Thorough knowledge of computer applications and diagnosis equipment.
