At Halliwell Jones, we are passionate about helping protect our planet, which is why we recently teamed up with Statham Primary School in Lymm to take their Year 4 students on an educational visit to Chester Zoo. The trip aimed to teach the children about conservation, endangered species, and how small actions can make a big difference in preserving our world.
Upon arriving at Chester Zoo, the excited group was greeted by two members of the Chester Zoo team, Ellie and Bex. The day began with a tour of the zoo, where the students had the opportunity to explore and learn about a wide variety of animals. Each stop along the way provided insight into the different species, the groups they belong to, their natural habitats, dietary preferences, and, most importantly, their conservation status.
The children were particularly engaged when learning about endangered species, discovering what it means for animals to be at risk of extinction and how they, even at their young age, can contribute to protecting wildlife. From understanding the levels of endangerment to hearing about the zoo’s ongoing conservation projects, the students left with a renewed sense of responsibility towards the environment.
The highlight of the day was learning about the zoo’s efforts to protect animals and their habitats around the world. The children were inspired by the stories of real-world impact and how Chester Zoo is actively working to safeguard the planet for future generations.
This experience was not only a fun and memorable day for the children but also an important lesson in caring for our environment. At Halliwell Jones, through our Big Love initiative, we are proud to support experiences like these that foster a love for the planet in future generations.
