International Women’s Day Motorcycle Event a Huge Success at Halliwell Jones Motorrad Chester
Halliwell Jones Motorrad Chester was delighted to welcome riders from across the region on Sunday as we hosted Cheshire Constabulary’s International Women’s Day motorcycle Event at our Aftersales Centre.
Led by PC Jen Whelan of the Cheshire Constabulary Motorcycle Unit, the event was built around the BikeSafe initiative, creating a relaxed and welcoming environment where female riders of all abilities could connect, learn, and celebrate women in motorcycling.
From new riders to experienced motorcyclists, attendees came together to meet like-minded people, ask questions and gain insight from professionals working within motorcycle safety, emergency services and the wider riding community.
Led by Cheshire Constabulary and the BikeSafe Initiative
The event was organised and led by PC Jen Whelan, who is part of the Cheshire Constabulary Motorcycle Unit and a passionate advocate for supporting and encouraging women within the motorcycling community.
A key part of the day was the BikeSafe ride-out taster sessions, giving participants the opportunity to experience a short, guided ride alongside professional riders and observers. These sessions proved incredibly popular and were fully booked ahead of the event.
BikeSafe is a police-led initiative designed to help motorcyclists improve their riding skills, increase road awareness and ultimately make riding safer and more enjoyable.
A Strong Community Supporting Riders
One of the highlights of the day was the incredible mix of organisations who joined us to support the event and share their knowledge with riders.
Visitors had the opportunity to meet teams working across rider safety, community support and motorcycling advocacy, including Cheshire Constabulary, North Wales Police, BikeSafe, Mental Health Motorbike, Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire Blood Bikes, and Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes.
The two Blood Bike groups were particularly popular, giving attendees insight into their vital role in delivering medical supplies and supporting the NHS across the region. Riders were able to speak directly with volunteers and learn about the life-saving work these groups carry out every day.
We also hosted a small practical workshop session, where attendees could get hands-on advice covering basic motorcycle maintenance. From chain checks to tyre safety, the session gave riders practical tips to keep their bikes running safely and confidently.
Hayley Bell from Women Riders World Relay (WRWR), along with members of the Evolution Women’s Motorcycle Club, Curvy Riders, and Women on Wheels were also on hand throughout the day, chatting with attendees, sharing experiences, and helping build connections within the female riding community.
Hands-On Workshops and Vital Community Support
We were delighted to welcome Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire Blood Bikes and Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes to the event. A huge thank you to both groups for joining us and for the incredible, life-saving work they do every day, supporting the NHS and communities across the region.
As part of the day, the teams also took part in a practical workshop session in our Halliwell Jones Motorrad workshop, where they got hands-on with basic motorcycle maintenance. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to see the tips and techniques riders use to keep their bikes safe and in top condition.
