On 5 March 2019 BMW has revealed its latest Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) – the new BMW X3 xDrive30e – at the 2019 International Geneva Motor Show, and has confirmed that this plug-in hybrid variant will be available as of December 2019.
Boasting the very latest lithium-ion battery technology, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e consists of a 4-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric motor. With a joint system output of 252hp, which can be increased by up to 41hp by temporary use of the electric motor's peak output, it takes just 6.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 62mph and achieves an electrically powered range of up to 31 miles*.

The Geneva Motor Show also saw the unveiling of the new BMW 330e, the new BMW X5 xDrive45e and the electrified model variants of the new BMW 7 Series.
Plus, BMW also premiered new state-of-the-art batteries for the BMW 530e and BMW 225xe Active Tourer, which now boast enhanced electric range and reduced consumption. The BMW 225xe Active Tourer now goes up to 29* miles in pure electric, which is 25% further than the previous model.
BMW Group’s status as a pioneer and market leader in electric mobility has been reinforced. This is an ongoing focus point and priority, with electrically powered vehicles increasing to at least 25 models by 2025.
