The Wigan 10K - fantastic fourth race takes place on September 4th

We are delighted to announce that Halliwell Jones Southport and Warrington will be sponsoring The Wigan 10k Event for the fourth year running.

The event has raised more than £200,000 for Joining Jack and other local and national charities over the past three years.

This fantastic fourth race takes place on Sunday, September 4th, when Joining Jack are hoping to break all previous records and have 4,000 runners on the Market Street start line!

The event has been organised by local charity Joining Jack in conjunction with Wigan Council and Wigan Leisure Culture Trust.  Joining Jack is raising money and awareness for research into the Duchenne Muscular Disthrophy, (DMD) a neuromuscular condition that causes progressive muscle weakness in boys.

Along with helping towards funding the road race and supplying support vehicles for the race, our Halliwell Jones Centres in Southport and Warrington also have even bigger Teams running in the event again this year.

This year's route will take in all the picturesque surroundings and crowds of supporters at Mesnes Park but will feature less of a zigzag and will be the first time runners get the chance to run the 100m home straight at Robin Park. With a more straightforward final mile, there may even be a new race record! You can check out the new route in detail on our new website http://www.wigan10k.co.uk

The race is a fantastic event for the town with live entertainment throughout the day from 9am.
